<p class="has-text-align-justify">Yes, you can cook bacon overnight in your HOTLOGIC® and have crispy bacon the next day. Usually, everyone who has tried cooking bacon says that it comes out floppy and unappealing. This is true when the raw bacon strips are sealed in a container and placed in the HOTLOGIC® for cooking. Because of this, nothing wrapped in raw bacon is an ideal choice to cook in a HOTLOGIC®. Let me show you how to cook bacon in a HOTLOGIC® and have it come out crispy.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Method to Use</h2>

<p class="has-text-align-justify" style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0">The way you cook bacon is make a tray of aluminum foil to set directly on the heating plate. Then lay the pieces of bacon on it. Be careful to not puncture the aluminum foil. Otherwise, the bacon grease will leak out. I, also, lay a piece of parchment paper over top without touching the bacon. If the parchment touches the bacon, it tends to stick to the bacon. I am not certain that the parchment is necessary. I do it to keep any condensation that forms on the HOTLOGIC® lid from dripping onto the bacon.</p>



<p class="has-text-align-justify">The bacon is cooked for 8 hours or overnight. After one hour I checked the temperature of the bacon in the HOTLOGIC® Mini&#8217;s and found the bacon to be within a few degrees of the temperature of the heating plate, in the high 190&#8217;s°F. The aluminum foil is an extremely efficient heat conductor. Whenever I check the temperature of my HOTLOGIC® Mini heating plates, I find that they are typically around 200°F.</p>

<p class="has-text-align-justify">If you are able to look closely at the picture of the bacon in my HOTLOGIC® XP Max, you may notice that the bacon on the lower left and on the top does not look to be as well-cooked as the rest. It is not. I took temperature readings and found that they reached 150°F to 170°F after about 1 hour. This does prove people&#8217;s belief that the HOTLOGIC® Max does not heat their food as fast as the HOTLOGIC® Mini. It cannot if the heating plate is not uniformly hot across the surface. If you find that your HOTLOGIC® Max has the same issue, you may wish to lay your bacon in a different pattern, so that each piece has a portion laying on a hotter section.  By doing this, the heat may transfer from the hotter section to the warmer given enough time. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What Bacon is Best?</h2>

<p class="has-text-align-justify" style="margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--40);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--40)">I tried thick cut and regular cut bacon. In the pictures the thick cut is on the lower left and the regular cut is on the right. In another test I cooked lower sodium bacon. No pictures are available of the low sodium bacon cooking.</p>



<p class="has-text-align-justify" style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0">All of the pieces were greasier that oven cooked or pan fried. The thicker cut did not have crunch, but it would work well in a breakfast sandwich. The regular cut had crunch. The lower sodium bacon has the best crunch of all of them. When my No. 1 Taste Tester was testing the results, I heard the crunch six feet away. The optimal crunch was probably due to it being an even thinner cut that regular cut bacon.</p>

Two of the common questions I have seen repeatedly are: &#8220;What can I make for breakfast?&#8221; and &#8220;What can I take on a road trip?&#8221;. I thought an egg bake would be an answer for both of these questions, that it could be assembled, frozen and then cooked overnight in a HOTLOGIC<sup>®</sup>. So I did an experiment.</p>

The egg bake came out the same as if it had been cooked immediately after assembly.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Taking It on the Road</h2>



<p class="has-text-align-justify" style="margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20)">So now the question is how this would work to bring on a road trip. Once the uncooked egg bake is frozen, place it in a freezer bag or vacuum sealed in a bag. You can carry the frozen egg bake in a cooler bag. If you are using a cooler without ice, you may only be able to have it to bake the first night. If you are supplementing your cooler with a combination of dry ice and water frozen in a block, then you should be able to keep food frozen for 2-3 days and still be cold at safe temperatures for a day or two more. This would allow you to have an egg bake for several breakfasts.</p>



<p class="has-text-align-justify" style="margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20)">For baking, remove the frozen egg bake from the bag and place in a container. I like to use the <a href="https://amzn.to/3Z9Q60f" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow">collapsible silicone container</a> I found on Amazon for cooking in my HOTLOGIC<sup>®</sup> while traveling. My mold makes a block that fits in this container. You will need to select a mold that produces a block that will fit in your preferred container. If you have enough space, you may choose to use disposable, <a href="https://amzn.to/3FFQFIw" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow">aluminum</a> or <a href="https://amzn.to/3JGzI1P" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow">plastic</a> food prep containers for both freezing and cooking.</p>



<p class="has-text-align-justify" style="margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20)">This method will work well if you need your breakfast ready as soon as you wake up in the morning. If you can get up in the morning and wait two hours before eating, you can still use an uncooked egg bake or you can re-heat a precooked egg bake that has been portioned and frozen.</p>

You can add a trimmed down version of the <a href="https://hlcooking.com/egg-casserole/">Egg Casserole</a> in another 3-cup container and have a hearty breakfast or breakfast for two.</p>

The recipe turned out well on the first try. It is flavorful and moist the next morning.</p>



<p class="has-text-align-justify" style="margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20)">Basically, three eggs will coat 3 1/2 cups of vegetables, cheese and/or meat, so the variations for this recipe are endless. For the vegetables possible choices are onions, leeks, bell peppers, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, kale and spinach. I have even used green beans when I was cleaning out the refrigerator. Reconstituted&nbsp;<a href="https://amzn.to/40KOP1R" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow">freeze-dried broccoli</a> can be used. For potatoes, diced, canned potatoes will work. I haven&#8217;t tried frozen shredded potatoes or reconstituted dried, shredded potatoes to determine how well they cook.</p>



<p class="has-text-align-justify" style="margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20)">There is an endless choice in cheeses. Goat cheese crumbles or feta cheese would add an interesting flavor. Then there are the typically used cheese of mozzarella, cheddar and colby-jack cheese. You probably have other favorite cheeses that would work well.</p>



<p class="has-text-align-justify" style="margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20)">For meat, bacon and ham are a staple. Then there are the many types and flavors of sausages. The spicy sausages add a nice punch of flavor to the casserole.</p>

It tastes like buttery, whipped cream. I enjoyed this condiment when I visited Europe and wanted to be able to enjoy it again in the United States. It is super simple to make, especially in a HOTLOGIC<sup>®</sup>.</p>

<p class="has-text-align-justify" style="margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20)">Then pour about an inch of cream in a heat safe dish placed in your HOTLOGIC<sup>®</sup>.</p>



<p class="has-text-align-justify" style="margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20)">Zip the HOTLOGIC<sup>®</sup>&nbsp;shut and leave for 12 hours. It will look similar to the picture.</p>



<p class="has-text-align-justify" style="margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20)">Place in the refrigerator for 8 hours.</p>
