Soon after learning that rice will not cook in a HOTLOGIC®, I decided to try cooking quinoa (kēn′wä) in a HOTLOGIC®. I was pleased to see that it cooked well.

Use a fork to fluff up the quinoa cooked in the HOTLOGIC®.

Quinoa is a simple grain to cook. To make 2 cups of cooked grain takes half a cup of dried grain and 1 cup of water or broth and season to taste. The only issue I had was with the floating seeds. The floaters tended to not absorb any water and stayed hard. I learned to stir the seeds into the liquid before cooking.

There are simple variations that can be made when cooking quinoa. One is to include a tablespoon of chopped, raw onions and two tablespoons of cooked black beans to the ingredients. Another is to add diced, uncooked carrots to the quinoa before cooking.

I, also, like to use cooked quinoa is to make Crunchy Pumpkin & Quinoa Dog Treats in my HOTLOGIC® for my dogs. I cook a half a cup of quinoa with one cup of water. Once it’s cooled, I am ready to mix up the ingredients. This recipe is cooked overnight because it takes 10 – 12 hours for the treat to completely dry out.
