Making desserts in a HOTLOGIC® might not be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about what to make in your HOTLOGIC®. Due to the low temperature of a HOTLOGIC® it takes hours to bake desserts that bake in minutes in conventional oven. But consider, there are some desserts that cook better in the HOTLOGIC® than in a traditional oven, such as cheesecakes. Also, you may still want to enjoy homemade goodies even if your HOTLOGIC® is the only oven to which you have access. Now you can.

These recipes are specially formulated to bake thoroughly at low temperature. The ingredients selected are critical for the recipe to work. You can experiment with substitutions. However, you should be aware those experiments may turn out to be learning experiences.

Food Allergies & Eggs

You know better than I do regarding what foods you need to avoid. Many of the recipes may be gluten free, but gluten can hide in some of the ingredients under a different name. I ask that you review the ingredients yourself to determine if they are safe for you to consume.

There will be some recipes added here that use raw eggs. If this is of concern to you, you can buy pasteurized eggs or pasteurize them yourself. It is possible that you can use a pint canning jar with one egg per jar and filled with water to pasteurize them in a HOTLOGIC®, but I haven’t tried this yet.

Appliances

I have tried to find methods to use that limit the amount of electricity needed in case someone in a converted van is making the recipe. The following is a list of appliances that may be used.

  • HOTLOGIC®
  • hand mixer
  • drink blender
  • refrigerator
  • freezer

Bakeware

There are a wide variety of items that can be used in the HOTLOGIC® for the baking. Here is a list of commonly used items.

  • aluminum foil
  • parchment paper
  • paper towel
  • grilling mat
  • 4 oz canning jar
  • 1/2 pint canning jar
  • small heat-safe glass bowl
  • 4-cup, heat safe dish
  • 6-cup, heat safe dish
